If only other Manufacturers offered a more simplistic caravan for their audience.
We took the calypso teardrop by Caretta to Devon to say hello to new customers and potential retail outlets to make our teardrops more accessible to you.
We decided to test the teardrop in an off grid environment and to test if you really can enjoy the teardrop without heating.
It’s 10*C here in the day in the middle of January. Lovely blue skies with the odd passing of a flash shower in the day and with temperatures expected to drop to -1*C at night.
My journey took me from Taunton, to Exeter and then down to Plymouth. As expected the scenery in Devon is simply stunning and it comes as no surprise why it’s home to best caravaning and camping holidays.
I know I travelled here out of season, but you still couldn’t escape the campers sentiment here. A constant flow of static caravans and a VW Camper was always in site as I made my tour.
The views can take your breath-a-away and this really did take your mind away from the cold weather and the prospect of
a colder night ahead
As the night drew in, the time came to setup camp, get snug and see just how cosy the teardrop can be.
Without any electric and relying on the 60ah leisure battery for my lighting and 12v supply, I parked up, made up the bed (just blankets, duvets and no sleeping bag) and set out to test how cold it could get.
I have my laptops on hotspot to my phones 4g network so I can catchup on some work and watch a movie. My jackets off and already I’m starting think that is going to be great. It’s relatively warm, and the insulation in here is very good.
I’ve even opened up the skylight to make sure it’s well ventilated.
I’m soon a sleep wrapped in my blanket and duvet and lights out.
I awake at 7.30 am with a smile on my face as I look at my fingers and touch my face and feel releived that no icicle’s have formed and that I was actually still quite warm. I roll back the duvet and open the doors to see ground frost being attacked by the morning sun. I survived the night but more so, I was truly amazed at just how well insulated and warm the Calypso Teardrop kept me.
So to answer the heating question in a teardrop question on how best to heat a Teardrop, the first andweanswer is to make sure iit’s a Csypso aypsoaCalypso Teardrop by CareCaretta..
If you’re going off grid then you really can settle without.
But if you really must have some heat, then a 12v mattress blanket should be suffice.
If the budget allows then you should invest in the Fidel diesel heater system.
And if your teardrop is to be hooked up then aour 400w fan heaters that have timers and climate settings are the most cost effective and way to keep toasty.
I'm afraid I don't have a Google account, but would still like to do a review:
Firstly, 5 stars.
I received an excellent service from first contact to after-sales. I asked some rather searching questions initially and these were answered in a straightforward, patient and friendly way. My point of contact was Rohan and did not feel pressurised into making the purchase. In the end I decided to buy the motorcycle, and the process was smooth and easy including delivery. Even the smallest details were taken care of.

I used Calypso to buy my very first Bike - KEEWAY K-Light, I send an E-mail to them in the morning and within half a day the bike was on my driveway, great customer support throughout with the registration of the vehicle and help in other areas, I would highly recommend these to anyone. Thank you

Bought a Calypso 2 berth from this company, I must say, for the price I paid, I am impressed so far with the quality and retro design of my caravan. They import many other brands and build their own caravans, Just wish there were more companies doing this in the UK. Good work Calypso
